Today marks a significant milestone for Archbishop Shaw High School senior Mason Wilson as he officially signs to play football with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Wilson, a standout quarterback and running back, has been instrumental in leading the Eagles to their first state championship since 1987.​
Throughout the 2024 season, Wilson showcased his dual-threat capabilities, amassing over 1,500 passing yards and more than 1,000 rushing yards. His leadership and athleticism were pivotal in Archbishop Shaw’s playoff run, culminating in a thrilling victory over E.D. White in the LHSAA Division II Select state championship game. In that matchup, Wilson contributed significantly, including a 21-yard touchdown run that tied the game in the second quarter. ​
Wilson’s commitment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy not only reflects his athletic prowess but also his dedication to service and academic excellence. The Academy, known for developing leaders in maritime and military fields, will benefit from Wilson’s discipline and drive.​
