Spiritual Life at Shaw
Get to know the work we do to bring the Gospel to the lives of the young across the Westbank.
Daily Mass and Prayer
Here at Archbishop Shaw, daily Mass to celebrate the Eucharist, the source and summit of our faith, is offered in our school chapel every Monday through Friday.
Frequently daily prayer throughout the school day, creates sacred moments of communion and reflection from morning until the end of our day.
Community Service
We believe that faith is expressed through active service to others. Shaw students participate in regular service projects, both in school, and out in the community, putting faith into action and making a positive impact within our community.
Mission trips like Gospel Roads or our Easter break service opportunity in Puerto Rico, help our students live out and learn social justice.
Student Retreats
Throughout the academic year, students participate in grade-level retreats designed to deepen their faith, strengthen their relationship with God, and build fraternity.
High powered retreats, such as COR, and the Salesian Leadership Retreat, are additionally impactful on the lives of our boys
Community Retreats
We extend our spiritual formation beyond our students by offering retreats and adoration for parents and the broader school community. These gatherings provide opportunities for adult faith formation and spiritual renewal in the Salesian tradition.
Rooted in Faith, Formed for Life
At Shaw, faith is at the heart of everything we do. Guided by Catholic and Salesian traditions, we provide a spiritual foundation that helps our students grow in their relationship with God, live out the Gospel, and serve others with joy and purpose. Through prayer, sacraments, and a supportive community, we prepare young men to lead lives of faith, integrity, and service.
Get to Know our Faith
Catholic
As a Catholic school, our foundation is rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the mission of the Church. We foster a faith-filled environment where students grow in their relationship with God through prayer, Catechism, sacraments, and service. We strive to live the Gospel in our daily lives
Salesian
We live the style, method, and mentality of Saint John Bosco, by following the Salesian tradition, which emphasizes reason, religion, and loving kindness. Our school is a place of family spirit, where students are encouraged to develop spiritually, academically, and personally in a supportive and faith-filled community.
Saint John Bosco
Saint John Bosco, also known as Don Bosco, was a 19th-century priest and educator. He founded the Salesians, a religious community committed to education and evangelization of the young, especially the poor and abandoned. His legacy lives on in our mission to form young men of faith and character.
Preventive System
Don Bosco’s Preventive System is our educational approach. We emphasize creating an environment of faith and joy where our faculty and staff walk alongside our students, guiding and encouraging, them along the way. This system creates a welcoming home where young people feel valued, respected, and desire to grow in faith and virtue.
Serving Others, Living the Gospel
Community service is an essential part of student formation at Archbishop Shaw High School. Inspired by the teachings of Christ and the Salesian commitment to service, our students actively give back to those in need. Through hands-on experiences, they develop compassion, leadership, and a sense of responsibility, preparing them to be men of faith and service in their communities.
