This week, Archbishop Shaw faculty, staff, and students took the opportunity to donate a pint of blood to those in need. Blood drives have been very successful at the school and many students signed up to donate just to help those in need. Ochsner Blood Bank, in recognition of those efforts, wanted to give back to Shaw students themselves.
Students who donated blood have their names entered into a raffle for a scholarship towards the end of the year. Senior John Paul Bui, one of many students who signed up to donate, remarked that “giving blood made me feel really happy. Just knowing that I am able to help those in need that aren’t as blessed as me made my day”. It’s this spirit of kindness that drives many students just like John Paul. “Plus, I got a pretty cool shirt”.
