Pro-Life at Shaw
Forming young men to respect human life
Rooted in our Catholic Christian faith, Archbishop Shaw High School affirms the sacred dignity of every human life. Our commitment to being pro-life is not limited to a single issue, but reflects a holistic approach that recognizes the value of life at every stage—from conception to natural death—and in every circumstance.

What We Mean by Pro-Life
Guided by our Catholic Christian faith, Archbishop Shaw High School is committed to upholding the dignity and value of every human life.
In the spirit of Saint John Bosco, we seek to be present to young people and those most in need with compassion, reason, and loving-kindness. We understand being pro-life as a comprehensive call to recognize, protect, and serve life in all its stages and circumstances—not only the unborn, but also the poor, the vulnerable, the marginalized, and those in need of accompaniment and care.
Through faith formation, meaningful service, and opportunities for student leadership, we strive to form young men who build a culture of life through respect, responsibility, and active love for others.
LIFE IS SACRED
We believe that all human life is a gift from God, created in His image and deserving of dignity and respect from conception to natural death.
Holistic Approach to Life
Our pro-life commitment goes beyond a single issue, embracing care for the unborn, the poor, the vulnerable, the marginalized, and all those whose dignity is at risk.
FAITH in Action
We put our beliefs into practice through service opportunities, community partnerships, and student-led initiatives that foster a culture of life both on campus and beyond.
Catholic and Salesian Foundations
Our understanding of the dignity of human life is rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church and lived out through the Salesian charism of Saint John Bosco. Together, they shape how we form young men to recognize Christ in every person and respond with compassion, responsibility, and hope.
The Catholic Church affirms that every human person is created in the image and likeness of God and therefore possesses inherent dignity from conception to natural death. This belief is articulated through Sacred Scripture, Catholic Social Teaching, and the moral teachings of the Church, which call the faithful to protect life, care for the vulnerable, and promote the common good.
The Salesian tradition offers a distinctly life-affirming witness by emphasizing accompaniment, hope, and the belief that every young person, regardless of circumstance, is worthy of love, dignity, and opportunity. In this spirit, being pro-life means more than defending life in principle; it means walking with others, especially the young and the vulnerable, helping them to discover their God-given worth and their capacity to live lives of purpose and service.
At Archbishop Shaw, this foundation is animated by our Salesian identity. Inspired by Don Bosco’s Preventive System—rooted in reason, religion, and loving-kindness—we strive to be present to young people and those in need, accompanying them with care and guiding them toward lives of faith and service.

Pro-Life Club
The Pro-Life Club at Archbishop Shaw High School provides students with meaningful opportunities to live out their faith through education, service, and advocacy rooted in respect for human dignity. The club helps students grow in understanding while encouraging thoughtful, prayerful engagement with life issues in a way that is consistent with Catholic teaching and the Salesian spirit.
Through the Pro-Life Club, students organize service drives, welcome guest speakers, and participate in initiatives that support mothers, families, and those most in need. These activities are designed not only to raise awareness, but to foster compassion, dialogue, and a deeper sense of responsibility for others.

Service in Action
We believe that respect for life calls us to serve others in concrete, compassionate ways. Through meaningful service partnerships, our students encounter Christ in those who are hungry, homeless, or in need of hope and support. These experiences help our young men to grow in empathy, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of what it means to uphold the dignity of every person.
