The Archbishop Shaw Baseball Program thrives on tradition and competition, offering three levels of play: eighth grade, junior varsity, and varsity. Competing in District 10 Class 4A, our teams go head-to-head with schools like Belle Chasse, St. Charles Catholic, The Willow School, and Kenner Discovery, embodying the spirit of determination and sportsmanship that defines Shaw athletics.
Varsity and junior varsity squads start preparing for the season in the fall with rigorous conditioning and weight training. Official practices kick off in early January, as set by LHSAA regulations, with tryouts held each July to assemble the strongest rosters. The baseball season runs from mid-February through mid-April, and all players are expected to fully commit to practices and games, even during holiday breaks.
The commitment doesn’t stop when the school season ends. In the summer, Shaw fields teams in the Metro League and Crescent City Sports League, providing players with opportunities to refine their skills and compete at a high level year-round.
