Wrestling is a winter sport. The season begins in November and the state tournament is held in February. Conditioning begins in August, and official practice begins the first week of October. The wrestling team has members from grades 8th through 12th and competes for state honors in Division II. Dual meets are held throughout the week. Competition usually includes the area Catholic High Schools, as well as, other wrestling programs across the Southeast Region of the United States.
The Wrestling program currently holds 3 state runner up championships, 21 individual state championship titles and 6 district championships.

Brandon Surrency – Coach Surrency is in his 2nd year as the Head Coach of the Wrestling Program, last year the Eagles finished top 10 in the State Tournament and compiled a season record of 17-10. Before Surrency took over as the Head Coach he was an Assistant Coach for 8 years, 7 years at Shaw and for 1 year at Jesuit High School. At Shaw Surrency served as an assistant on the 2015 State Runner-up team and at Jesuit as an Assistant for the 2010 State Runner-up team. Surrency believes in building young men to be successful through; Character, Leadership, Accountability and Work Ethic. Surrency possesses a Business Management Degree as well as a Masters in Business Administration from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Coach Surrency is a graduate of Archbishop Shaw (2009), as a wrestler here he was a State Champion, 2x State Finalist, 4x All-State Wrestler and compiled a career record of 114-42.
Assistant Coaches:
Conrad Wyre- Coach Wyre is a Varsity Assistant as well as the Head Coach for the Eagle Wrestling Academy (youth program). Coach Wyre is a graduate of De La Salle High School (2017), as a wrestler Wyre was a State Champion and 3x State Finalist. Coach Wyre is currently pursing a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Orleans.
Mark Woodson- Coach Woodson is a Varsity Assistant. Woodson is a graduate of Bonnabel High School, as a wrestler he was a State Champion and 2x All-State Wrestler. Coach Woodson was also a member of 2015 State Runner-up Coaching Staff.
Martin Garrett- Coach Garrett is a Varsity Assistant and Eagle Wrestling Academy Assistant. Coach Garrett is a graduate of Archbishop Shaw (2018), as a wrestler Garrett was a State Champion and 3x State Finalist. Coach Garrett is currently pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of New Orleans.
