Alumni Relations Coordinator

Position Overview

We seek a mission-driven alumnus with a passion for Catholic education and community-building to foster meaningful relationships with alumni and support the school’s advancement efforts.

This is a Part-Time position.

Requirements

  • Must be a Shaw alumnus who embraces the Salesian mission, practicing the style, method, and mentality of Don Bosco.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Engage alumni in school life, advancement initiatives, and service opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Advancement Coordinator and Head of School to strengthen alumni involvement and giving, attending administrative team and advisory board meetings as a staff member.
  • Represent the school with professionalism and Christian witness at events and in communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience in development, communications, or alumni relations beneficial.
  • Ability to coordinate volunteers, manage events, and maintain accurate records.
  • Familiarity with donor database systems (Almabase) and fundraising best practices.
  • Enthusiasm for outreach, storytelling, and promoting alumni engagement through various media platforms.
  • Availability to attend key events including Homecoming, Seafood Festival, Gala/Hall of Fame, and annual reunions (with special focus on 50th reunions).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the “Shaw Forever” initiative to connect alumni with the mission of Archbishop Shaw.
  • Serve as liaison to the independently incorporated Alumni Association and other alumni-led groups, and build a quarterly alumni committee to drive fundraising and engagement.
  • Support fundraising campaigns including the annual fund, continuous giving program, iGiveCatholic Day, endowment drives (St. John Bosco Endowment and Dominic Savio Matching Fund), capital campaigns (currently the Student Commons), and alumni-sponsored community scholarships offering tuition assistance to prospective students.
  • Seek and secure major gifts through prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and donor accompaniment; communicate fundraising relationship parameters with Eagle Athletics LLC, Eagle Athletics Foundation (501C), the Gridiron Club, and other school organizations.
  • Assist with Homecoming and the Seafood Festival by actively recruiting class leaders as event organizers and cooking teams.
  • Maintain donor recognition efforts and alumni memorial projects, including thank-you correspondence, deceased alumni recognition at school Masses, the memorial plaques in the chapel, and the Alumni Hallway tile project.
  • Assist with public relations efforts that highlight alumni involvement and school impact.
  • Oversee department budget adherence and ensure proper handling of funds, both in-person and online.
