Robotics Competition

At our second and final robotics event of the year, Shaw Robotics (the Enigmatic Technomancers – FTC Team #13456) placed an impressive 7 out of 17 competing teams at the FIRST Robotics FTC Relic Recovery regional qualifier held at Hammond High School on Saturday, January 13, 2018.

FIRST robotics is a national organization founded by tech entrepreneur Dean Kamen whose mission is ”┬áto inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.” The 2017-2018 season was Shaw’s first time competing with FTC. In this rookie season students from grades 8-12 were represented on the team. The club meets MondayFriday after school for one hour and has even had the opportunity to work with Academy of Our Lady’s FTC team in preparation for our competitions.

Now that the competitive season is over, students in the club are excited to hone their robotics construction and computer programming skills on various personal projects in preparation for another FTC season next year.
