On Wednesday, May 4th, Archbishop Shaw held its annual Welcome Mass for incoming 8th and 9th grade students. Fr. Louis Molinelli, SDB, Shaw’s Director and Principal was the main celebrant and homilist. Concelebrants were Fr. Thomas McGahee, SDB, Fr. Mike Eguino, SDB, and Deacon Kevin Steele. New students, parents, grandparents, and siblings filled Don Bosco Hall until hardly any seating remained.
Fr. Lou delivered a compelling homily, focusing on the principles of St. John Bosco and how Shaw is different from other high schools through its air of compassion, and instilled a sense of pride in all who were in attendance.
The mass also served as an opportunity to recognize those students who received academic scholarships for the upcoming school year. These young men have maintained a 3.0 GPA for their previous two years of school, received stellar recommendations from their principals, and scored in the 80thpercentile or higher on their standardized tests.
A light reception was provided by the Parents’ Association at the conclusion of mass.
Congratulations to all of our new eagles!
