Tailgating Policies

Policies and Guidelines

The following policies outline the expectations for those wishing to participate in tailgating activities before home football games at Archbishop Shaw High School. As a Catholic institution, we uphold moral values both on and off the field, and we expect the same from all family members and visitors who join us on campus.

1. Arrival and Setup:
   Tailgating groups may arrive and begin setting up no earlier than 4:00 PM on game days.
2. Designated Tailgating Area:
   All tailgating activities are to take place on the grass field located between the gym, baseball field, and Band annex building.
3. Setup of Tents, Tables, and BBQ Pits:
   These items may be placed along the black fence adjacent to the baseball walkway or the ditch closest to Avenue K. Please ensure that setups remain along the perimeter of the field to leave the central area open for young people to play and for the Band or dance team to practice.
4. Parking:
   Trailers and vehicles are not permitted on the grass. Please drop off equipment and promptly move vehicles to designated parking areas, where parking fees apply.
   Exceptions: In certain cases, vehicles or trailers may be allowed to remain on-site with prior approval from the Principal, Mr. Nicholas Marchese, in coordination with Gridiron support group leaders.
5. Sales and Vending:
   Sales of any kind, including food and beverages, are strictly prohibited. Only school-sanctioned support groups may sell Archbishop Shaw merchandise with prior approval.
6. Trash Removal:
   Each group is responsible for the proper cleanup and disposal of trash. Please bring your own trash bags and ensure the area is left clean.
7. Security of Belongings:
   All belongings must be secured in vehicles before entering the game. Archbishop Shaw High School is not responsible for any items left unattended, including ice chests.
8. Respectful Behavior:
   All groups are expected to maintain respectful conduct toward others. Inappropriate behavior may result in removal from the premises.
9. Modifications to Policies:
   Archbishop Shaw High School reserves the right to modify tailgating policies on a weekly basis. Specific guidelines will be enforced for events such as the Megaphone Game and Homecoming.
