Dear Archbishop Shaw Community,

I hope this letter finds you well.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make our way through these uncertain times.  We wake up every day striving to craft the best plan possible to teach our young men in the most effective and safest way possible.

On Monday, July 27, uniform pick up begins.  Check the table below for specifics.  Uniform questions should be directed to Mrs. Oralea Fruge at fruge6@archbishopshaw.us.

Our first week of school begins on August 10.  We are opening school using a Hybrid Learning Model.  Our school has been placed into two cohorts/groups.  The table below illustrates how the first letter of the student’s last name  determines the cohort/group that he is assigned to.

Cohort 1 Cohort 2
Student’s Last Name Begins With A-K Student’s Last Name Begins With L-Z

The Hybrid Learning Model allows Archbishop Shaw the opportunity to have our students on campus as much as possible while still remaining within the guidelines of phase 2.  To fully achieve our mission, vision, and core values, it is imperative that we move to a traditional model of in person instruction as soon as it is safe to do so.  The Hybrid Learning Model allows us to have as much in person instruction as possible while complying with all  CDC guidelines.  All students will be in class every day, but on campus only two days per week.  Using this model, there should never be more than 12-15 students in a physical classroom.  Fridays will be virtual days, with the teachers at school and the students at home.

The table below shows the schedule for the month of August.

If you are uncomfortable sending your son back on campus due to having a vulnerable individual in the home, or your son is immunocompromised, please contact Mr. Ben DeMarais at demarais4@archbishopshaw.us to discuss the remote learning cohort/group.

We understand how complex this may be, and we are here to support you as always.  We will provide a safe and effective environment for our students, teachers, staff, and administrators. We appreciate your flexibility and support during these difficult and uncertain times.

Dr. Mark Williams
