A three-week, pre-high school summer program for incoming Archbishop Shaw student for whom a review of basic Math and English would be useful to maintain skills and remediate deficiencies. Participants will also be guided to complete their summer reading requirement.
Note: SOARS is for enrichment purposes. Credit for elementary/middle school courses unsatisfactorily completed will be given at the discretion of the administration upon completion of the program.
June 5 – June 23, 2017, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. PLEASE DO NOT SCHEDULE VACATION AT THIS TIME. ONLY TWO ABSENCES ARE ALLOWED.
Archbishop Shaw High School. Drop off and pick-up at the Administration Building off of the Westbank Expressway.
REQUIRED FOR STUDENTS WHOSE LETTERS OF ACCEPTANCE MANDATE SOARS PARTICIPATION. Open to other students whose parents feel that a skills review and pre-high school program would be helpful. Please contact Mr. Ducote in the Admissions Office if you have questions.
The only item that participants will need to purchase is a summer reading book: The Contender by Robert Lipsyte. The book is available at Barnes & Noble in Harvey. Used copies are ok.
