Welcome to Archbishop Shaw High School! As a Catholic School, we strive to teach as Jesus did, with a spirit of apostolic zeal, compassion, and boundless love. As a school administered by the Salesians of St. John Bosco for its entire history, we follow the model of education laid out by St. John Bosco called the Preventive System. This is an educational system based on the charity found in the gospel and on the four pillars of Reason, Religion, Loving-Kindness, and Active Presence.
The ministry of the Salesians in the Archdiocese began in 1933 when we were asked to administer Hope Haven, an orphanage for boys. Archbishop Shaw continues to be a place where young people can find a home that welcomes, a church that proclaims Christ, a school that prepares for life, and a playground where they can meet and make friends. Our commitment to young people is clear and firm, namely to enable our young people to become honest citizens and upright Catholics and Christians.
The strength of Archbishop Shaw High School lies in its Salesian family spirit. We see each of our young men as unique and precious in God’s eyes. We work to give them the very best in education so that every aspect of their lives experiences growth to maturity. Our school motto Excelsior, meaning ever striving and ever achieving, invigorates us to provide a top quality Catholic and Salesian education.
We look forward to meeting you and sharing with you the experience that has made over seven thousand graduates soar with Eagle pride!
God bless you!
