Archbishop Shaw High School uses a block schedule. All courses rotate within a seven day cycle with students attending four 80 minute classes daily. Block Scheduling allows time for greater student activity and participation through cooperative learning. Teachers are able to utilize a variety of teaching methodologies. In general, students can manage their time better and improve their academic performance. College Preparatory Curriculum Archbishop Shaw offers a program that is designed for students who intend to continue their formal education beyond high school: it is college preparatory. A comprehensive curriculum challenges superior students at the honors level and can accommodate most students in need of limited remediation. The school does not offer a program suited specifically to students in need of special education or who have learning disabilities. Qualified eighth grade students may be considered for placement in some high school credit courses.
